Connecting your Data Sources to Corvidae

Connect to your AdTech

Connecting Corvidae to your AdTech allows us to collect data critical to correctly modelling your customer journeys and providing actionable insight.

We collect Media Spend, Budget, Budget Cadence, and a number of useful pieces of metadata at Campaign, Ad Set, and Ad levels. When blended with AI-powered attribution modelling this allows us to calculate ROAS, CPA, and facilitates performance modelling.

Connecting AdTech accounts is the first of two steps of importing rich, contextual AdTech data into your Corvidae attribution suite. To do so follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the Connections page in your Corvidae account

  2. Click on “Make a Connection”

  3. Select your desired AdTech from the resulting modal

  4. Authorise your AdTech account using an Admin login. If you do not have Admin access to your AdTech account, please send these instructions to a colleague who does.

Please repeat these steps for all AdTech accounts which direct traffic to your tracked domains.

The connections page is currently in Beta. If you do not have access to this feature please contact your Customer Success Manager.

Once the connection to your AdTech is established, it is then necessary to tag your Campaigns with identifiers so that we can connect your website traffic to your AdTech data.

Tagging your Google Ads

Currently only Google Ads has a comprehensive Click ID API which allows us to collect rich data about each click they send to your website. Just ensure auto-tagging is enabled and Corvidae will do the rest. We communicate with your connected Google Ads accounts every day to retrieve AdTech Metrics which are used to enrich and enhance your Corvidae experience.

Guides:

Tagging all other AdTech

In all other cases it is necessary to tag your ads to let Corvidae know which Campaign a user has engaged with before reaching your site. To do this you must add a set of query string parameters to each Campaign you are running.

Simple Tagging

The simplest implementation of tagging only requires 2 tags to be added to the links within your ads.

Parameter

Expected Value(s)

Description

qc_adtech

google

meta

criteo

rtbhouse

other

This tells us which AdTech is used to manage the ad, and in turn with AdTech API we use to connect marketing data with website traffic data.

qc_campaign

{campaign.name}

Campaign Name EXACTLY matching the Campaign Name in the relevant AdTech.

In some cases - like Meta Ads - it is possible to include a variable or “macro” which will automatically populate the campaign name. In other cases it is necessary to hard-code the value for each ad or campaign.

Some AdTech - like Meta Ads - maintains the first campaign name ever assigned to a campaign throughout its lifetime. If you later change the name of the campaign, the AdTech will use the original campaign name as its unique identifier.

e.g. https://example.com/page?qc_adtech=meta&qc_campaign=my%20campaign%20name

In most cases Simple Tagging will result in a perfect join between your website traffic and AdTech data.

Advanced Tagging

In cases where 2 campaigns may share an identical Campaign Name it is necessary to create a more precise identifier to ensure your website traffic data is correctly joined to data collected from your AdTech Connections. In these cases please assign the following tracking parameters to each of your campaigns:

Parameter

Expected Value(s)

Description

qc_adtech

google

meta

criteo

rtbhouse

other

This tells us which AdTech is used to manage the ad, and in turn with AdTech API we use to connect marketing data with website traffic data.

qc_adtech_aid

{account.id}

Account ID allows us to identify the specific AdTech account the ad belongs to.

qc_adtech_cid

{campaign.id}

Campaign ID identifies the exact Campaign which generated clicks to your website.

In some cases - like Meta Ads - it is possible to include a variable or “macro” which will automatically populate the campaign ID. In other cases it is necessary to hard-code the value for each ad or campaign.

qc_adtech_adid

{ad.id}

Ad ID identifies the exact Ad which generated clicks to your website.

In some cases - like Meta Ads - it is possible to include a variable or “macro” which will automatically populate the campaign ID. In other cases it is necessary to hard-code the value for each ad or campaign.

If you need assistance in setting up your AdTech tagging please contact your Customer Success Manager.
